Meet Our Interns

Hi, my name is Elly Peckham, and I'm entering my third year at MSU. I'm working on a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship. I'm from Billings, Montana, but have spent some of my time in Washington and California. I love spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, and hanging out with my cat Stella. At MontPIRG, I look forward to becoming more involved in Montana communities and learning about local rising issues!

At MONTPIRG I am looking forward to developing my leadership skills, giving back to the community, and being in service to all living beings.

Hello! My name is Josephine Kleman (she/her), or Josie for short! I am studying environmental and political science, with a focus on environmental policy and planning. I’m originally from Northern Kentucky, but I came to Missoula for the beautiful mountains and have never looked back! I love to backpack, cross country ski, and trail run. If I’m not in class or outside, I can be found reading my favorite book for the millionth time or watching reality TV with my roommates. I joined MontPIRG because I am passionate about local environmental justice issues, and I want to learn more about advocacy work and give back to the Missoula community.

Hello! My name is Courtney, and I have just completed my first year as a graduate student in the Environmental Studies program at the University of Montana. I am originally from Florida and moved to Colorado immediately after high school to complete my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Boulder. Driven by a deep commitment to equity and advocacy, I want to use my voice to champion environmental justice and inspire systemic change. I am deeply passionate about using education, storytelling, and grassroots organizing to amplify marginalized voices in the environmental movement. My academic interests include climate resilience, environmental health, and the social dimensions of conservation. Through my graduate work, I aim to develop inclusive, community-driven solutions that prioritize equity and sustainability.

Hello, my name is Sophia Harron, and I am originally from the border town of El Paso, Texas but moved to Missoula from the Seattle area. I am in my third year of studies at UM with a major in political science and I am also pursuing a certificate in forensic sciences! I am excited to work with MontPIRG and I hope to engage with my community in a deeper sense, learn about the inner workings of the polis in an informative and non-partisan way, and learn to be a better advocate for myself and my community. When I am not in the office, in class, or doing homework, I may be attending to one of my MANY collections, rocking out to music, geocaching, painting, or hiking with my friends!

My name is Matt, and I am a Political Science graduate student at the University of Montana. I am originally from Lawton, Oklahoma. I moved to Missoula in August of 2023. I enjoy winter sports and playing electric guitar.
