MontPIRG’s Board of Directors

MontPIRG is student powered and student led. All of MontPIRG’s board members are elected annually by student MontPIRG members at the University of Montana.

Maren Brophy

Hello! My name is Maren! I am from Billings, Montana, and currently a sophomore at UM studying Psychology and Climate Change. I am super excited to work with MontPIRG to help the Smurfit-Stone project. It’s an important local issue that affects our lands, community, and our future. I’m absolutely fascinated with the social and environmental issues Smurfit-Stone has to tackle! In my free time I love spending time with friends, listening to music, and hiking!

Ella Bradley

This is my third semester at UM and I am studying Environmental Sciences with a minor in German. I plan to go to law school and have a career in environmental law or lobbyism in the future. I am from Vermont and came to Montana because I have friends and family here, I love the mountains, and it is a great place to learn about environmental conservation. Civic advocacy is important to me and I am excited to serve on the board of MontPIRG and gain skills and knowledge about Montana politics and government!

Annabel Boedeker

Hey, I'm Annabel (she/her). I love hiking in the mountains, which never fails to amaze me as a Midwesterner from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I appreciate listening to music, learning about philosophy and everything else that changes my perception of the world. I joined MontPIRG to empower young voters to make their voices heard and to learn how I’m capable of making an impact.

Maddie French

Hi! My name is Maddie French, and I’m a first year grad student in the political science department. I’m very happy to be continuing my time both at UM and with MontPIRG. As the chair of the board, I’m excited to work as a defender for voter’s rights and consumer rights. MontPIRG has helped me realize a passion for advocating for comprehensive, fair tenant-landlord law. Aside from MontPIRG, I am a TA for Intro American Government, a frequent crockpot user, and a horror movie aficionado.

Hannah Adkins

Hi! My name is Hannah Adkins and I’m a first-year grad student in the EVST program at UM. I’m from a small town in West Virginia and came to Montana to further my research in freshwater contamination and restoration. I joined MontPIRG to advocate for environmental issues and because of the positive impact I have seen it have on this community. I am excited to get to work alongside other interns and board members and become a better activist.

Runyon Matthews

Hello! I'm Runyon, and I'm an English Education Major at UM. MontPIRG is a great resource and I'm very excited to serve as a board member! I'm really interested in Missoula, and would love to help Missoulians with renter's and worker's issues. Outside of MontPIRG, I love to read, go to concerts and listen to music. You can usually find me strolling along the river.

Georgia Balius

Hello! My name is Georgia Balius, I am a junior honors student at the University of Montana studying political science and philosophy. I joined MontPIRG because I am passionate about Missoula and Montana as a whole and I love the issues MontPIRG is involved in. Tangible change starts on an individual level, and I’m excited to be part of an organization that does so much for the community!

Liam Stoddard

Howdy there! My name is Liam Stoddard (they/them) and I'm a third-year student at the University of Montana. I'm currently pursuing degrees in psychology with a focus on women's, gender, and sexuality studies. Once I've completed this stretch of my academic journey, I plan to become licensed as an art/play psychologist. I'm ecstatic to be working with MontPIRG, for I feel it is my duty to help educate youth and other students on our state's political systems, environmental issues, and renter's rights. I love that I have been able to find community in my new home and I hope to share that with others. I am indubitably passionate about LGBT, BIPOC, disability rights and accessibility, as well as composting and recycling policies.
