Our Mission

The Montana Public Interest Research Group (MontPIRG) functions as a student directed and funded nonprofit organization; the primary mission of which is  to provide a tangible educational experience for new generations of civic leaders and advocates for the public interest.

MontPIRG functions as a conduit to transform students’ passions into effective advocacy.  We educate students on the methods of integrating issue advocacy into the multifaceted political process.  By educating students to be effective community leaders, MontPIRG strives to act as a catalyst that facilitates a legacy of social improvement for the benefit of all Montanans.

MontPIRG accomplishes these objectives with non-partisan public interest campaign work.  We endeavor to promote positive social change guided by the principles of the MontPIRG membership.
